Scoil Mhuire Abbeyleix

Welcome to Scoil Mhuire

Scoil Mhuire is a co-educational Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Kildare & Leighlin diocese.

School staff consists of 20 full-time teachers, 12 special needs assistants, secretary & caretaker. The school aims to serve the primary educational needs of the pupils in the town and parish of Abbeyleix.

We have 4 autism classes in a new state of the art building named Naomh Bríd in recognition of the Brigidine Sisters. This caters for 24 children from Abbeyleix & the surrounding area.

This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used to purchase and upgrade our ICT equipment.
